Cyber Security and Digital Forensics in Uganda

Cyber Security and Forensics services by The Tunnel Digital Agency in Kampala, Uganda

Prevention, Response and Investigation

Ugandan businesses are targeted constantly, and most attacks are not sophisticated. A hijacked WhatsApp Business account, a compromised company email used to redirect a supplier payment, a social media page taken over and held for ransom. The damage is real even when the method is simple.

We assess where an organisation is exposed, help recover accounts that have already been compromised, and investigate incidents after they happen. This is a service almost no digital agency in Uganda offers, and it is one we take seriously.

Most of our security work is preventive: reviewing how accounts are secured, closing the gaps that make takeovers easy, setting up multi-factor authentication properly across a team, and training staff to recognise the phishing and social engineering attempts that actually circulate here.

When something has already gone wrong we work on response and investigation. That covers recovering compromised business accounts, establishing how access was gained, preserving evidence properly if the matter may go further, and closing the route back in so it does not simply happen again.

What You Get

A clear written assessment of where you are exposed, ranked by real risk rather than technical severity, with fixes explained in language your whole team can follow.

How an Assessment Works

We begin with the accounts that would hurt most if lost: business email, WhatsApp Business, social media pages, hosting and any system holding customer data. For each we check how access is controlled, who holds it, and what happens if that person leaves.

We then look at the human side, because most successful attacks in Uganda are social rather than technical. Someone calls claiming to be from a service provider, or a message arrives that looks like it came from a director requesting an urgent payment. We test how your team responds and train them on what these attempts actually look like.

You receive a written report ranking issues by real business risk, not technical severity, with plain-language fixes. Where something is straightforward we will simply tell you how to do it yourself rather than billing for it.

Responding to an Incident

If you are already compromised, speed matters. The first hours determine how much is recoverable, so contact us immediately on +256 779 634687 rather than waiting to see if the problem resolves itself. It rarely does.

Our first priority is containment: stopping further access, securing connected accounts, and protecting anything not yet touched. Recovery comes second, and investigation third, establishing how entry was gained so the same route is closed properly.

Where an incident may lead to an insurance claim or legal action, evidence has to be preserved correctly from the outset or it becomes worthless. We handle that carefully, and we are honest about the limits of what forensic work can recover. Some things cannot be undone, and we will say so rather than take your money.

Other Services We Offer

Most clients combine two or three of these. If you are not sure where to start, talk to us and we will tell you honestly what will move the needle first.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • 01. Our business account has been hacked. Can you help right now?
Call us on +256 779 634687. Account recovery is time-sensitive and the first hours matter most. We will tell you honestly what is recoverable and what is not rather than taking money for something that cannot be undone.
  • No. Small businesses are targeted more often precisely because they are assumed to have weaker protection. A basic security review is affordable and closes most of the common routes in.
  • Establishing what happened, when, and how, using evidence preserved in a way that holds up if the matter goes to an insurer, a lawyer or the authorities. We are careful about scope and will tell you upfront what is and is not achievable.
